My nephew was on his way to Lawrence Kansas from Ann Arbor Michigan and his 91 CRX 1.5 gave up the ghost. The repair shop he was towed to says the timing belt broke and a new engine is the remedy. His father (my BIL) is mechanically competent but we are all in Gainesville, FL. My nephew is going to rent a car tomorrow and head to Kansas and needs to either scrap the car, sell it, or whatever better plan someone comes up with by tomorrow at noon or so. If anyone is interested in a decent deal on a fairly straight CRX, or can store it, or whatever give him a call at:

PS-he has a clear title, just not on him. Car has around 230k on it. I will try to get him to email me pics later.
I'm near Ann Arbor. Where is the car?

Dad here...He's stuck in Gas City Indiana.
Arrgh, that's about 4 hours from me. I'm sorry I can't help.
Sweet! Heidi in her Canoe has come to save the day!
If anyone here were to offer him $300 by noon tomorrow it would be yours. If not it will be off to the scrapper.
aren't those non-interference?

even angrier that my tax money isn't here. I would drive up there for a deal like that.

My quick google says they are, but if they are not we would be really glad to hear it.

They are interference, unfortunately. I'm about 1000 miles away, or I'd have a new commuter car.
Sorry to hear that. I will add to the "if only I were closer" chorus.
It is interference. It may or may not have popped some valves. A reconditioned head and a timing belt should be the worst case scenario.
An engine removal and installation of a Challenge Bomb would be the best case scenario.
I want one for "G23 Vtec Type S" experiments.

Call him if you are truly interested. His phone can probably send you pics and it can be stored where it sits for $20 a day.

I'm going to see if i can get a place to store it before i start bugging him, but i'll definitely be in touch with him if i can. I have a few ideas.

Just to be sure you know, that "noon" refers to today, Wednesday 1/19/2011, tick tock!

Yep i know... and today is a busy day, too. If i can't find a place in an hour, i'm going to let it go.
Owning 5 cars and living in an apartment kindof.... sucks.
1.5- is that an HF?
good everything fodder.
Angry- if you can swing it, I have a trailer you can borrow. It's on the way to Indiana.
I think i'm out. I can't get ahold of the people who i thought would let me store it.
sigh...such a waste . Im only about 2 hours away. But Im broke and trailerless. pitty

Curses for being at work til 6......I could have come for this tomorrow afternoon. My roommate was looking for an inexpensive 2nd car. Such is life.
Hope your nephew gets where he's heading without any further mishap!
