The good news:
92,4XX km - yes, really. I'm the second owner and the previous owner is a friend. It was a second car for both of us so it got very little use.
All glass and the interior is in good condition.
The 1.9l motor and automatic transmission are in good condition. The power train in these vehicles is the same as the one used in the Mazda 323.
The bad news:
The body looks good from far but it is far from good. It needed a new muffler and fuel line last fall, which I was told would be $320. I didn't want to spend any more money on a car that was rusted, would need a new set of tires soon anyway, and in which the air conditioning had stopped working last summer. I bought a new vehicle in Oct. 2009 to replace this one and this one has been sitting in my driveway since.
I think it's a shame to have a car with a good power train towed away and have it crushed when there might be someone out there who has an Escort that needs a motor or transmission.
The plates expired so if you buy this, you'll need to have it towed out of here. Needless to say, you would be buying a car in as-is condition with no certification or emissions test. (It passed the e-test last spring. I spent about $1200 for a tune up, plugs, ignition cables, filters, oil change, and replacing various front-end components then.)
