Hello all. I have been meaning to join for a while. My own project has been underway since about 2006.. a $1500(-150 sold I-head that came with it) eta 2dr with one special feature: a 90 dollar power-adder mounted with a bunch of angle-iron. enough about that though..

I joined to list this other car. I think it's a great candidate.

2 months ago it was my daughter's car for driving to school. One rainstorm plus an idiot in a huge monster-truck plus 8 inches of water adds up to the car getting hydro locked. I had it "pickled" by a porsche shop at a cost of about 300 bucks so it has no more water in the engine at all, but the damage was already done. It does start but I have only done that twice for 5 seconds each time.. not wanting the connecting rod to contact any more and potentially bust the block.

With time and skill this can be a great, cheap, unique challenge car I do think. a shame really because I just put about 4500 into all the boots, cv shafts, all (8?) joints in the AWD front section, timing belt and water pump 4000 miles ago as well as a stupid emissions-test-pressure-pump thing. (service-engine light comes on.. NOT because there's an emissions issue, but because one of the things used to TEST FOR emissions problems detected that it was busted. Well 450 dollars later its fixed. par for a 41 thousand MSRP car I guess.

Lets shorten this up-

Location: 21921 condition: vg except for the engine thing. 2.8 NA V6 5-valve price: lets start at 800. don't read that again, I'll write it again.. 800.

fire-engine red (not sure the audi color.. it's original and great paint) 140k maybe typical pixel issues with the driver's info-center. tan leather, wood. auto-stick 5 speed. dead silent inside but you'll fix that I bet. tires maybe 2 are good, 2 are okay.

pictures tomorrow, or after the first interest shown.

If you aren't going to use the engine I'll give you 100 bucks for it if you bring it back but you can sell the heads for a profit probably.

I also want the right of first-refusal when you go to sell the car. I'll buy it back when you are bored with it, or after you win the challenge ;)

one more stipulation- you must use it for a challenge car project. I won't entertain junk-dealers wanting to make money fixing it or parting it.

it's up on the trailer in the yard. you can borrow the trailer bring it back within 3 days.

If you have challenge-parts for my 85 e30 bmw I'll listen. I can use a fuel cell, external fuel pump, FMU, light rims.

those are from this morning on the way down the driveway. When I get finished eating I'll get some walk-arounds and interrior, and engine (well, engine-cover if that excites you). If you've never seen the underside of one of these, it's smooth (well, I mean under the engine) for aero/noise reduction I guess. I have the front portion of the panels taken off but I do have it. Looking at the exhaust I would bet it costs a ton to buy from the dealer.. if you swap in some good-ol pipes you can probably gat a grand out of the exhaust if you find that one person who needs it.

the rest-

Hey you know what would be funny, take out the #1(suspect) and the opposing rod/piston (#5 maybe?) and take out the valve actuators for those 2 cylinders, unhook those injectors and turn it into a 4-cyl and add a blower. it would sound like a 1915 oldsmobile or a harley haha chu-chu(pause)chu-chu(pause). the rotating assembly would be balanced but the engine mounts would still have to contend with a shake at low rpm.

Thought this would go.. I may be behind the times or overestimating the ingenuity here. I'll take the ad down and yank some parts and ghost it..
