Runner-ish
Parts car
- Lee
Is that the Honda with the 3 barrel carb that is hard to get parts for and darn near impossible to rebuild even if you do?
(PS - I got one of those for free)
In reply to 914Driver:
Yes to the 3 barrel (more like 2.5 barrels, ugh) but parts aren't THAT bad. A few things that were specific to the hatchbacks of this year are getting scarce (rotors and body), but other maintenance parts are still out there. Luckily there are also some documented running gear conversions to newer (mid-80's) Honda parts, and as far as the crazy octopus carb goes, there is a ~$300 Weber conversion that works well on the street.
Those are both 1200's, from what I see. Still, I need a parts car and a spare engine or two for mine...
914Driver, you have a free Civic, or the carbeuretor?
That's funny, I never really even looked at the photo of the gold car's engine. On the bright side, those use a much more conventional carb, but probably only have four speeds.
My first race car was a gutted '79 Civic 1200 in that same bronze color. I'd buy those just to fool around with if they were local.
Definitely 1200s. If someone buys these and doesn't need one or both motors, let me know, as I need long blocks, or crankshafts for my race car. Marc in Indy
