As far as I'm aware the seat is a "scaled up" design based on a Bride seat. Well, at least that's where the idea for the fabric came/comes from.

It's designed for someone with a slightly more, err, portly figure - I've got a 33/34" waist and I have room to spare compared to the Bride buckets I now have in the car.

Seat comes on adapter rails made by "ryokorob" on clubroadster. It actually sits a tad lower than the Brides on Bride rails so it's probably as low as you can go without bolting the seat right to the floor. The only fitment issue in a Miata is that the shoulder "ears" will touch the door when the seat is fitted.

Seat overall is in decent condition, there is a little damage to the fabric at the top of the seat (pictured) and where the seatbelt rubbed the fabric - that one has more fabric stuck over it. It could also use a clean. Reason for sale - prefer the Bride seat, I'd have to eat more pies to fit this one properly plus I need to buy more Miata go-faster bits.

I paid $275 for the seat with the rails (IIRC retail for the seat alone is something like $700 and the rail adapters are something like $250 if you can get him to make some) plus shipping and I'd like to just get my money back on the seat.

I'm happy to ship but it'll be fairly expensive due to the size. Getting the seat up from SoCal cost me over $100 but that was without a box and I now have enough cardboard to make a box for it.

I might entertain trades with cash either way for Miata or 325ix parts.

How much does it touch the door? I'm looking for a more comfortable DD seat.

How much "room to spare" are we talking here? I've got a 34" waist, but I'm on the bigger side despite that. (6'1" 205). Potentially interested if I fit...

It touches the bolster enough that you can see that closing the door will move the top of the seat sideways a little, hence my suggestion to grind/sand off a little of the "ear" to get better clearance. You basically have to close the door like you mean it, which is (IME) the case with pretty much any larger bucket-type seat.

Eyeballing the fit, I figured taking off approx 1/2" is most likely make it fit very well. Didn't try that though simply because the seat is a little too big for me.

I had enough room in there to noticeably slide/bump into the sides when driving. I'd guess we're talking ~1" room to spare. IIRC the guy I bought the car from mumbled something about being a 36" waist and fitting comfortably.

I'll try to take a photo on the weekend comparing the seat to one of my "mail-order Bride" VIOS - this seat is huge in comparison. Forgot to mention that my unscientific test suggests that it's also a little lighter than the replica Brides.

OK, as promised here is photo of the seat next to my "Mail Order Bride" - as you can see it's substantially wider:

I've also tried to measure the distance between the side bolsters. It's not that easy to read but we're talking about 14.5" in this picture here. For comparison, the Bride is 13" at the same point:

I also took a better photo of the damage caused by the seat belt that is hidden under the stick-on cover:

Anybody? I'd rather sell this to a GRMer but I'll probably advertise it on some of the Miata websites soon.

Right, last chance - it'll go on several Miata forums tonight.

You'll need to log in to post.
