Mine, affiliated, guilty, etc. No fixed prices on any of this stuff, shoot me an offer- I want it all GONE.
I have a vehicle purchase planned that should hopefully happen in the next month or so. Therefore I'm clearing out my garage, the MGs must go!
First up, 1979 Midget 1500. EDIT! I goofed up- I have the title but didn't transfer it into my name. I will do this tomorrow. I apologize for the mistake! This is a description I sent to someone interested in it (haven't heard back):
The 1500cc engine was rebuilt by me- hopefully correctly! I took the best parts of two engines and built one. New parts I installed are King tri-metal bearings big and little end on the con rods and new piston rings. All gaskets are new as well. I hand lapped the valves so they should seal well. Don't forget- this engine has yet to run. I was chasing a weak spark (I think) and a fuel delivery issue. Then I got pissed at it and let it sit.
These cars came standard with a single Zenith Stromberg carb that sucked a big one. I ditched it for a single Hif 44 carb off of a MGB. This is considered an upgrade in MG circles. But I think the float needs to be adjusted.
It also came with a mechanical fuel pump that mounted on the side of the block that was driven by the camshaft. I ditched this too, blanked it off and installed an electric fuel pump. The brand new fuel pump died while I was trying to get it to run. Part of what pissed me off!
The previous owner said he rebuilt the front calipers and the rear brakes. I put new pads on the front and painted the calipers. The calipers were hanging up on me so I put a new master cylinder on it. Then they were still doing it, so maybe the hoses to the calipers need to be replaced?
The original wiring and switches were also crap, so I basically rewired the car with oversized wire and heavy duty switches. This all works. I used a couple of wire nuts here and there because I ran out of terminal strips.
Suspension- the front is original and good, the rear was replaced by the PO with tube shocks instead of the stock lever arm shocks. I thought they were too stiff so I ordered refurbished, better than stock lever arms (from Peter Caldwell). They don't get any better.
The vinyl top is in so-so shape. The rear window is separating from the top in one spot. I wasn't too worried about it because it is after all a convertible! If you want it, I have a hard top for it too. I repaired some scratches in it and it needs paint. It could use some new rubber gaskets too. I will try to attach images tomorrow.
When I bought the car, it sort of ran and drove. It smoked like a forest fire and had a bad blow by problem. I put about 12 miles on it like that while I was messing with it. So the gearbox works fine and the tub is solid.
Other stuff that needs to go:
-1275 core engine
-1275 core rib case trans (only needs bearings?)
-Rust free 74 tub with bonnet and boot lit. Needs sheet metal work I'm not qualified to do on the sill pieces. It has a VIN plate but no title. This was to be my vintage racer build. I got as far as removing the rear axle and painting it as well as rear suspension and installing grade 8 hardware and poly bushings. Front suspension is shot. It does have old tires mounted on steel rims. It was a roller when I got a hold of it.
-Factory hard top painted blue (ugh). I had some scratches in it I filled in with fiberglass and sanded flat. So it will need paint and will need some gaskets where the windows meet the top. Otherwise the glass is in pretty good shape.
I can supply additional images upon request. I'll give this listing two weeks before I seek alternative methods of making them go away
