My buddy's boyfriend does all the work on their Grand Marquis, albeit with an emphasis on the "shady'" part of shade tree mechanic. Last time they came in from Mississippi (allright no Deliverance jokes ), I refused to let him leave without taking some of my jackstands because he regularly got under the car using only the spare tire jack.
