Need space more than projects right now. Well, space for other projects. Not this one. Would love to keep it in the family, but I have other priorities right now. No trades. Okay, maybe a Miata. One day they'll be like currency.

Will you deliver it back to Burford?
Thank God it is an auto. If it was a manual, I'd be in Florida right now. GLWS.
Hey those are the awesome ATS wheels I want for my 145.

If it's anything like an 1800 (and the later 1800's share much), then converting to a manual is basically a bolt-in project.
I bid, but thankfully was already outbid, SWMBO asked me if I was looking for a British wife when I showed it to her.
If it were in running condition...

Where does it say it is not running?
Motor runs (well, it did the last time I fired it up), but it ain't got no brakes right now. Well, I mean, it HAS brakes, they're just in the trunk. If a boardie buys it I'll even throw in a pile of new, unbent hardlines.

I was instantly outbid at $300......oh well, didn't really need a trip to FLA.
And even if one of you don't win it, thanks for cranking the price up a bit for me :)

By the way, there's a really nice looking M edition '95 Miata with a hardtop at a scuzzy used car lot right near my house for $3995. Just sayin'

True but I just got a 1967 1800S last week. I think the wife will divorce me if I brought home another old Volvo. 2 in 3 months is enough for her.
that is awesome. Are these things really that cheap or are people just holding back on the bidding?
If I hadn't just discovered that my "tax refund" I was counting on is negative $300, I'd like to be all over it.
I'm guessing a b230ft swap is pretty much a walk in the park plus electricals?

Hell, at $300 I would have put a small block in it and sold it after the challenge for a plane ticket home.....
I'be been wanting one of these since I saw a gorgeous red one (with the turbo wheels I think) years ago.

Yes. I did this conversion on a 1970 145 many years ago. The hardest part was the wiring harness runs through the pedal cluster.
I really wish I had room for this car - always wanted a 142. Those aluminum grills were hard to come by 25 years ago, and I think '70 was the last year for them.

It's been done but no, not easy. Much for the same reason V8 conversions are difficult. That engine bay looks much larger than it really is when it comes time to route things like the exhaust. Plus, being a cross-flow head design, the intake manifold on a B230 goes where the brake booster and m/c is.
The 140 is more or less a tweaked 122 with a squared off body. As a result, the 122, 140 and 1800 body styles all suffer from a deceptively small engine bay that has lured many into an ill-planned engine swap/conversion.
In reply to Ian F:
The transmission tunnel is also smaller than the later 240's, and most swaps require widening it, including Volvo m46/m47 swaps if I remember right.
bidding is at $510. another shoe box
