I picked up a 71 Monte Carlo Chassis off Ebay this past weekend because the price was just to good to pass up ($500). This car is basically a shell from the firewall back with a 12 point cage installed. I have a suspension for it and may make into a challenge car if know one buys or trades for it. I already have my challenge car for $2011 so I don't need this one right now. I am looking for a small convertible project for the $2012 challenge for my wife to drive. I would be willing to trade up or down for a good small convertible project.
I will try to post pictures here but if that does not they are in my profile or I can email them.
Let me know if anyone is interested. The shell the way it is I would let go for $550 which covers my cost plus gas to pick it up. Other parts can be negotiated, but I would really like a small convertible project starting point does not need to be complete or even close to it as I plan on making lots of changes.
kept seeing that thing on CL and not impulse buying it, looks like you did :)
i wish i could bring it home, looks awesome. wasnt it up in medina?
i heart the first-gen monte without vinyl top. my was red with black guts. i've had 22 cars, only 2 that i want back are the monte and my '64 corvair spyder convertible.

My first car was a E36 M3 brown '70. My 2nd car was a blue one. Both were unkillable cars that cost $700 each. One in 1984, one in 1986. The blue one had a blue quilted nylon interior that was much nicer than the vinyl of that era and I've never seen one like it. The PO used that vanilla fragrance spray crap and I never did get rid of that stench. This thread made me smell it again for a second - funny how that happens.

I got it off Ebay. It was located in Amhearst. I think the guy I got it from may have got it off Craigslist though and I don't think he had it very long. I do have a title for it so it could be a cool pro street car. It would be a neat project if I get time to get around to it.
is there frame forward of the firewall or is it cut off?

Yes the front frame is there past the suspension pickup points. The front legs were cut off forward of the steering box mount but behind the bumper bolt holes.
