Good candidate for a V8 swap? The price is right. Sure it will sell quickly.

1990 Mazda Mx5 Miata - $600 (barnesville)
1990 mazda miata with 1.6l engine (broke timing belt). around 200000 miles needs some interior parts and hardware is good on top but the canvas needs to be replaced. 4 speed auto transmission. decent tires. After market aluminum wheels.

Sheet metal is probably worth that price. I'm sure it will sell quick also.
Someone on MX5-ATL will likely snag that.
are those interference engines?

They are not. Don't tell the owner, though. I suspect the price is based on the thought that it is an interference motor. That is an interference transmission, sadly ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
I would be shocked if metalman hasn't already picked that up.

However, I wouldn't be shocked if the belt came loose from a crank keyway failure. Might need a new engine anyway.
Not completely ruling it out, but timing belt would likely still appear fairly tight with a keyway failure. I also don't think that's the original motor, so perhaps it's an LNC, which admittedly aren't immune to keyway failure, but are possibly less susceptible.
How hard would you have to beat on an autotragic miata to snap the belt?
I beat the ever loving dog snot out of my miata before I changed the belt at 220k and according to the PO it was likely the original belt. Craptastic respray to boot. but dayum....
