I have someone interested in my Lotus Twin Cam engine, but I've never dealt with shipping something this large overseas. Is U-ship a good place to find a deal on overseas freight, or are there better options?

I think we use freightquote.com. DB Schenker usually has good prices if the buyer is willing to pick it up at an airport.

Buy me a roundtrip ticket and I'll take it as carry on?

I gave up looking for cheap shipping to get my Mig welder from the UK to here. It was going to cost me as much as a new smaller unit so I decided to get my mom to sell it...but she never got paid and I'm welderless

In reply to Adrian_Thompson:

I was going ask if anyone might be flying that way and mind taking it as a carry on. It's a pretty small engine after all.

Sorry, mums here until mid Jan, I'm not heading to the UK until at least August next year, maybee later. I am considering bringing back a SAAB LSD though. Did it for my old Fiesta race car, but that was pre 9/11

I shipped a crate containing a supercharger and some other large bits (water to air intercooler and stuff) somewhere in europe a few years ago,I can't remember exactly where. germany, I think? DSL was the cheapest, but they are now defunct. It ended up being like $120, but I'm serious this box was probably 100 lbs or more by the time it shipped.

The engine's stated weight is 265lbs. I just shipped the other one out to CA a couple months ago, and $250 was the lowest rate I found. I'm guessing England will be about twice that or more.

I bought a crankshaft from the uk a couple years ago. I did a fair bit of research into shipping. I will dig up my receipt tomorrow. I think it was aUS LTL company

It was a preproduction blower off a jaguar or a northstar or something or another, iirc. I was attempting to engineer an intake manifold to fit it to a nissan 4.5 dohc v8. I can't really remember why, except that because driftcar.
