Looking at the DS buyers guide in a recent issue of Practical Classics...there's some scary rust-trap inner panels to those things. Apparently the hydraulic parts aren't cheap, either.

For a hypothetical challenge build, you could go all sacrilegious on it...air bag suspension and the biggest turbo the engine can handle.

I still want an SM, once I have enough money I dont need for anything else to buy a not too rusty one I probably will. They go pretty cheap if they arent in near perfect shape, I have seen them for as little as $100, which im sure was pretty scary, but still.
