I would be willing to bet a dollar the clutch went out, unless his kid was doing clutch drops with it. You don't break a manual transmission just "driving" it.

It IS a Ford trans. These weren't particularly well known for being super robust transmissions.

The MTX75 is more robust than a Mazda G-Series...

It has an MTX75......if it doesn't have a hole through the case, it is probably shifter linkage......stupid cable bullE36 M3.

To be fair, if you add a torsen, it'll hold power reasonably well......its like the mtx-IV. Open diff + abusive wheel spin =diff pin ejectus. As I said, chances are, if there isn't a hole in the case, its probably the shifter.

A good friend of mine had one with a Quaife in it. That. Car. Rocked.

Yeah that transmission was used in the Noble cars. So they can be beefed up.

Would be a good donor for a Middy if the trans is fine. Like in the back of EXP.

I love these cars and wish I'd never sold mine. Really great DD's and a whole lot easier to work on than internet lore would have you believe. I say go for it.
