No affiliation, it kills me a little inside to not have the money to buy it:

gaah - I really wish it had some underbody pictures, and a few more details(miles, rust, etc). I'm looking for a rallycross and around town car since the Grand Marquis has sold.

Its a bit far for me to drive just to check it out, though. Plus, here in Ohio, everyone's got a different opinion of how bad rust is...

If it's still listed tomorrow I may be able to go check it out.

If Stan sees this he probably has some civic-specific pointers.

I think making sure the panhard bar mounts aren't about to rust off is the biggest thing on this generation. Also check the seat belt mounts, door sills, and torsion bar mounts as those like to rust real good too. Everything else is pretty stout from what I recall.

Just found this, guy sounds stupid as hell but $1200 isn't bad for a running MR2 around here:

Yeah, he sounds like a jackass, but at least he managed to put 4 decent sized, clear, in focus, images showing the cars entire exterior, during the day, and without a dog, another car, a kid, a tyrannosaurus, or a volcano blocking it. There arent too many car listings on C-list that I can say that about.

In reply to cghstang:

Chris, If you check it out,and don't want it for yourself, let me know how it is. I won't be able to look at it in the light, since its a heck of a drive from down here, and won't be able to get off work this week.

From my CRXs, the main risk is the panhard bar mount, then the rockers/seatbelt mount, then the torsion bar mounts. If the car is solid, and actually runs good, it'd be an awesome rallyxbeater, though I might have to find an 86-89 Integra in order to improve it :)

I can go look at the civic for you tonight if you need me to. I'd just look for the same bad places I've had on my CRXs (the same spots eastside mentions).

I've got a red 87 Si I'd take $1500 for. 130,000 miles. Rusty but no busted panhard bar, torsion bar mounts, etc. Rustiest car I've owned (from Florida,) but then again, I'm used to GA cars. Handles great.

Aside from the driver's inside door panel being pulled away from the door, interior is the nicest I've seen, and I've seen a lot of 'em. Aftermarket fuel pump is noisy and the car stumbles intermittently around corners, I suspect a fuel delivery issue, probably related to rust in the tank.

New timing belt, water-pump, and requisite head gasket, valves, and headwork.

Needs an axle. I have a genuine honda I'd throw in fo' free.

Located in North Georgia.

You could bring it up here and take a turbo brick home with you.

Better still, we could meet half-way. I know I've seen the car here somewhere. You gotta link w/more info?

My '86 Civic Si was a good car. And it was totally rust-free, too.

I don't take back my comment about MR2 guy sounding stupid but here indeed is a 1G MR2 with a 5.0 up front:
