1991 535i 5-speed, 230K miles. Comes with a Bentley, a small pile of parts and ~$30K of receipts.
Feel free to kill this for the >$2K price, but I've posted pics/info on this car before and folks have expressed like for it. Firm on $3K. It's what I paid 2 years ago, and it's then I put in $5K in parts. Driven under 10K miles since. This is about as good as $3K cars get, and the E34 535i MT is awesome. Last of the big six/getrag combo, first BMW with 50/50 weight distribution, comfortable and near Mercedes build quality/solidity.
Texan until 3 years ago. Rust, dent and scratch free. Repainted just prior to coming up after it had some paint thrown on it. Jim C chip, Koni yellows, H&R springs, E28 M5 clutch w/ lightweight flywheel from an E9, shorter shifter from an E46 330ci, 3.64 LSD (vs stock 3.46 open), Bridgestone RE-01R's on 16" Mille Miglia wheels (about 1/2 worn). Snow tires on 15" OE basket weaves are also available for a bit extra. No funny noises, vibrations, clunks or shimmies.
The head was replaced just before I got it with a low-miler from a 735i. Radiator and hoses also done at that time, along with a bunch of other stuff I don't remember.
New stuff in the last 2 years/10K miles:
Shocks (slightly used Koni Yellow), Springs (H&R), Bump stops, dust caps, rear strut mounts, Sway bar links, Dogbones, Control arms, sway links, tie rods, steering center link, idler arm (all Meyle HD stuff).
Clutch Slave Cylinder, Transmission Mounts, M5 Clutch, all new trans mounting hardware, trans seals, Rear main seal cover plate, portland driveshaft & CSB, lightweight E9 flywheel, Shift boot, Shift bushings, Differential (3.64 LSD to replace 3.46 Open), Guibo, trans seals, "bitch" clip, 330i Shift lever, Diff seals, diff mount and hardware.
Crank pos'n sensor, Fuel filter, Fuel pressure regulator, Air Flow Meter, Oxygen sensor, Plug wires, Belts, Distributor/Rotor, Front engine seals, plugs, water pump, Air filter.
Receiver Drier, R-134a retrofit kit, A/C Safety pressure switch.
Exhaust hangers, front License plate delete panel, battery, Door seals, trunk/hood struts, all power steering lines/o-rings/reservoir, Oil pan gasket + bolts, water valves, new roundel badges.
It's also running around on all new fluids (Redline and Mobile 1) and OEM filters. All the adjustments are up to date (valve lash, steering box lash, etc). I used almost all new fasteners when I worked on it and torqued stuff properly. Everything that isn't new was pulled off and tested while I was trying to figure out why it ran out of breath at 4500 RPM. Later turned out to be a timing chain off by one tooth.
It's got some niggling issues, but they're mostly free fixes. Power driver's headrest that isn't working (probably dirt in the switch contacts). Needs to be unlocked from the passenger side (spare driver's handle with car). Fog light that needs a new wiring pigtail. OBC errors for brake lights/brake pads (new LKM included to kill the fog error, new wear sensors for the pad warning). Amp needs rewiring because the head unit fader control is locked at 50/50. Slight weeping from the valve cover gasket (spare included). It just needs a weekend or two of futzing around to get everything taken care of. Overall a solid 8/9 out of 10 on cosmetics, with some issues here and there (rear bumper cover next to the exhaust has a crack that can be epoxied, rear seat back needs some re-stitching, some door card shrinkage right under the handles). Photos of all those problems are in the Flickr set.
If you work on cars yourself or know how to talk to your mechanic, this thing is a real joy. Super easy to work on, inexpensive parts, great build quality. I've turned away 3 buyers, though. Two young ones and one 75 old guy who didn't know cars and just wanted a cheap BMW. I don't want it just run into the ground by someone who won't stay on top of maintenance. This thing will last forever in the right hands.
Selling because wasn't getting driven. My commute is 3 miles at 35 mph and it was a waste to drive the big beast. It doesn't come alive until you're up over 45 mph. Replaced with a 328is!
