1980 volvo 242dl For sale or possibly trade unsure on the trade portion. Selling as a project though all it really needs is some time to finish it. The reason im selling it is because I just learned not too long ago I have a baby on the way so my dream to finish this the way I want to is in the way of that and well I love my 242 as of right now I need to concentrate on the family 245 wagon project instead so selling the 242.

History/What do you get:
It was originally a M45, with a b21f and dual Dellorto side draft carbs all at unknown mileage. The M45 was previously rebuilt by the previous owner, and I have since sold off the carburation set since I had planned a V8 swap. I still have the good engine, and transmission but I took it out due to a bent clutch fork. I made sure to mark the position of the driveshaft so if I did put it back to stock or sold the driveshaft it would stay in the balanced position. Underneath it has custom coil-overs; kaplhenke --Adjustable Torque rods --Adjustable panhard bar --Adjustable camber plates Also brakes wise if I remember correctly I had just put on new pads and rotors all around new front brake lines, and part of the rear. Slim brake booster, as well as a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. And to top it all off full stainless steel IPD brake lines.
Interior has been revamped completely I tore it down to bare bones and fixed any rust on the floor (two spots, cleaned out the rockers, and used a combination of POR15 and rustoleum to double ensure that there will be no rust to come back. Interior is complete with upgraded rear side panels, (I put a brace on the back so the armrests will not sag. Also newer rear seat from a newer 240, all carpets have been painstakingly cleaned (I like my cars to be clean). I also have mint condition black plastic oem Volvo mats for the 240 as well as a mint black leather armrest. The center console is also in good condition no cracks breaks or anything to note. I have a spare dashboard as the one in the car at the moment is cracked all over while the one I have stored has just one slight crack. I also installed cloth/leather S40 manual seats with the option of heating, couldn’t figure it out nor did I need a warm butt/back in the winter since its cloth anyhow. Rear headrests and headrest covers. Blower motor works flawlessly newer 4spd fan setup installed instead of the 3speed). Trunk is also fully carpeted along with the spare tire cover that has the optional cargo pouch. Im sure im forgetting things ive done a lot to many parts of the car.
Exterior: GT Flat hood; also have the coffin hood that I got with the car originally. Has either the regular flathood grill or GT spec fog setup along with either the flush or recessed single round setup. (I couldn’t really decide when I first purchased it what I wanted). Newer oem tail lights these look like nos but where purchase used to replace the old ones that had missing the reverse lens. GT front lip, pre 85 power mirrors not hooked up because I just set them where I needed them and they stay just fine plus they look a lot better than the non-power mirrors. Body shows paint cracking, I started sanding the surface rust as well. And to be completely honest the only rust on the car is in the butt cheeks which can be easily found via fixmyrust.com. And there is some rust near the battery tray but I have a front cut from a wagon parts car I had that is the perfect replacement (which was my original plan.)
Other than that it is a car I truly loved to work on and fix up I wish I could keep it but life happens I guess and have to keep the wife happy. Hoping this will go to a good home I am asking $1200 OBO to start off with due to all the work I have put forth and parts that are on it. And will come with plenty of extra parts as well.
P.s. I know of a cheap turbo swap and 4spd w of and a Chevy small block and camaro t5 that would be great for this car
