not mine not affiliated.just found it on CL http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pts/2475422509.html
This is one of the CL locations I watch (it's less than an hour from me) yet somehow I missed this one.
For some reason, several MGs have "popped up" on area CLs recently, including what looks like a nice B-GT with A/C and a C with automatic and what the seller claims is a factory hardtop...but looks like a period hardtop from an aftermarket supplier (it doesn't have the rounded contours a factory top has).
Car sold for $450. I don't know who Chris was but he didnt get it. It may or may not show up at the Challenge though. Possibly a Lemons /ChumpCar as well?
In reply to Greg Voth:
Chris didn't get it because it was not as the ad discribed. It was not a roller motor, had a quadra jet and needed lots of work. Not the owners fault he didn't know cars.I do hope someone bought it that finishes it.It was a great deal but if we bought every great deal we found we would all be broke.lol
I wasn't knocking Chris or anything.
The other two guys on our Challenge/Lemons Team picked this up tonight. I am in NC on vacation so I dont know much about it other than it is rusty but it looks workable. Dont know what they checked out on the motor. Steve is just tickled that it has a Chevy Motor after the run of 302's we have (302 Miata, RX-7, Volvo, another $2011 project).
We sold the $2010 V8 Miata last night so easy come easy go on the money I guess. For $450 it should be hard to go wrong.
LOL,Greg This is Chris.. I dont think your knocking me.I wanted it really bad but I have several builds going and just thought someone else from GRM would give it a good home.Im stoked you guys got it, are you guys bringing it to the 2011 challenge?
We will bring something just not sure what. Maybe a couple cars if everything plays out right.
If nothing else assuming the Lemons / Chumpcar V8 83 RX-7 survives the September Sebring race it would be pretty easy to prep.
We are thinking this might not make a bad second Lemons car.
In reply to Greg Voth: It will make a great car.We are building two challenge cars for this year. One Ultimate Track Car Challenge car for this year and one for next year so we have a full boat right now.We have a 1st gen rx7 and a 3rd gen rx7 and like them both.
I would love a third gen but play a little to low on the $$ scale with cars.
What are you all building for the challenge and UTCC?
I dont even want to get started on the list of RX-7's
1979 Spark Yellow RX-7 - Rusty
1979 Spark Yellow RX-7 - 47k original miles, stock and nearly mint
1983 RX-7 - Lemons/Chumpcar - 302/T-5. Currently getting 2nd gen 4 pot brakes and 8.8 Mustang Rear so we can run 17X8 Mustang take offs instead of the 13" all seasons.
1984 Tender Blue RX-7 GSL-SE - Streetport 13B, RX-8 Rotors, 3rd gen housings, Megasquirt, coilovers etc etc. Money pit.
Then there is the V8 Volvo, V8 MGB, two 68 Mustangs and it looks like a 68 GT6 pretty soon.
As for the Challenge were building a corvette and a 1st gen rx7.We had the yellow 1st gen. rx7 at the challenge last year.As for the UTCC we have a 1gen rx7 with the new rx8 engine. It is also the 2nd challenge car were entering.
That yellow one was clean! We had the black Miata with the 5.0 I referenced earlier.
I am very anxious to see an RX-8 motor in one. I hate to drag out a FS thread but how are you all dealing with the electronics? The only one I have seen was done over in Japan and appeared to use the stock RX-8 Cluster and everything.
