So after many years of slow progress and now on the verge of moving, its time to say goodbye to my Locost project. In order to get it gone as fast as possible, I'm offering it to a good home for FREE (obo ;).
Whats included (probably more, but off the top of my head):
442 frame probably 80% complete (no transmission tunnel for example)
Rear axle - Volvo 940 solid axle with locker diff, 4.10 gears. Modified to fit sans shock mounts (work in progress). Have QA1 shocks as well. New brake rotors. 14" Alloys with tires included (for mockup purposes only). also have 4 14" steelies in good shape, no tires.
Front axle - Miata spindles modified to accept 5/8" tie rods. Appleton manual steering rack. Yamaha R6 shocks, Kinetic Vehicles A-arm kit. This is the most "complete" part of the project. Miata brakes. no front wheels/tires, but those are easy to come by!
Engine - 1990 (or 89, can't remember) Nissan KA24E (the 140hp, 12 vlalve motor) from a donor 240SX. Includes 5 speed transmission, original clutch and a new clucth in box. Also have the full wiring harness, dash and a bunch of other parts.
There are tons of other little bits and pieces that I can't think of now.
Only real requirement is that you take it ALL and don't just part it out.
What could you end up with? A Lotus Seven replica with 140hp, and around 1500lbs that YOU built.

I bet giving up on a project like that is hard. I understand giving it away for free to a good home. I sold my megasquirt project BMW 2002 for about half of a challenge budget only after the guy promised to not take out all the EFI stuff and just put the carb back on it. I was moving and wasn't willing to try to ship a non running car 1000 miles when I had two other cars to ship already. It would be nice if this story has a happy ending (not that kind) and someone completes this.
I do know the gentleman. Became a father of twins in the last 2 years. Makes a project like that a little more difficult to complete.
Oh boy...less than 2 hours away...this is way too close for comfort.
Sachilles, do you know when he's moving?
My wife is thanking you (and the project) for being on the other side of the country .
In reply to fanfoy:
I don't know when he's moving, sorry.
That's a thousand miles from me. Very tempting though...... Want
Right next to Stowe in prime ski season... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
The really cool people go to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen.
In reply to sachilles:
Been to Stowe, Smugs, and Okemo. Mad River, SB and Killington are on the list but they are all 7hrs (except Okemo and Killington) or more from me so... I hit one new place per season.
Plus, who are we kidding... the cool people go out west when they can't get to the Alps ;)
That is 90 minutes (maybe less) from my parent's house, but this seems like a project that would take me 10 years to complete.
My wife unknowingly thanks you for being in VT.
Anyone coming south? Meet you in Virginia. ...
I'm on it like white on rice.
You're ruining me, Seth.
Wow, only two hours from mom & dad's. Only no way to get it here. (Also high risk of sudden death after getting it home )
