Anyone need a close ratio box for their air cooled VW? We had two built for the Drag Beetle, one was an all out super trans, the other one has a nice close ratio, goodies inside, but with a standard side cover and such. Planned on using it in an auto-X Ghia, but the Ghia was totaled before the re-build/transformation.

Still haven't found another Ghia that I can afford and the transaxle is just sitting, bagged up on the shelf. Time to offer it for sale. We had it built with nice tight gearing to eliminate that "pushing through plastic wrap" feeling when shifting between second and third. We also had a fourth gear installed that wouldn't allow the revs to drop between third and fourth. A nice tight box. No top end, but great for auto-X or drag racing (with an under 100hp engine.)

Since we lost the listing of the gearing rations, I'm selling it for a nice low price. Like to jack it up, but without the specs, you're buying a never run close ratio mystery. Came without a nose cone to save over-sized costs, but you can just swap your old one onto it. Easy Peasy, just five or six nylocks and done.

Only $250 or just your best offer. Less than a stock box. WAY less than what we paid for it. Time to pass it on.

Thanks,

TC

It's located here in Kingston, MA 02364. To big to ship with today's "fuel cost adjusted" UPS prices. Pick-up only.

I think I know the answer to this............swing or IRS?

Ooooopppsss . . . IRS.

Not entirely sure that I'd try auto-crossing with a swing axle VW. Even with a camber compensator and limiter straps, it would get a little . . . exciting.

Folks have been doing it for years with Formula Vees. If set up right it's not as bad as it may seem

I can ship it, but with the new unbelievable rates and additional fuel surcharge, the cost is insane ! ! ! Check for yourself. Kingston, Ma 02364 to your place. About sixty pounds in a 1.5 x 1.5 x 3 foot box.

No, sorry. I sold the Type IV stuff and the genuine 356 stuff over last year. Repro 356, Type I engine, and MGA stuff is all that remains.
