seller said: Bought this from the original owner who purchased her new in 86 (or so I was told.) This thing was the state of the art in '86. Electronic suspension, stereo equalizer, power every thing, turbo charged. The interior is minty clean. The exterior has minimal rust spots for being an Indiana car since '86. Underbody is relatively clean. I think this car was a spring/summer/fall car. No winters or salts. The engine in the car has a new turbo on it purchased a few years ago. The engine though, is locked up. I have a 12 valve engine here out of a 89 mx6 (626) with the beefier transmission that goes with the car and will drop in. Very rare car from what I am told. Most turbo 626's in 1986 were four door, and not two door. Can email pics. Just shoot me an email. Would make a great spring project.
Somebody needs this. The two doors are not common, even less so in GT form. They're smaller than a 1g MX6, and as such, lighter. Suspension specifically for this car is near non-existant, BUT: Adapting to 1G MX6 stuff is a bolt in affair, which also means you can easily dump in 2g MX6/Probe stuff.
The spare engine that it's coming with is from a 1g MX6 GT. 145hp/190tq stock, those are WHEEL FIGURES. Even with stock motor, this thing will flat out HAUL. The motor trans is as he says, a bolt in affair.
DIYAutotune makes a DIYPNP MS setup for this motor, and well... i'm sure you've all heard me preach the virtues of this motor. With the budget you'd have left over (offer him $1000, i'm sure he'll take it), this thing could reach ludicrous speed and you'd be going plaid in no time.
If i wasn't balls deep in the Escort, i'd buy this without thinking twice. Hell, i'd ditch my MX6 for this thing.
This car IS as clean as it appears in the picture, i've seen it in person.
If the Challenge isn't your thing, this is also an oppurtunity to have a capable SCCA Solo car in a couple classes:
1) Rebuild the motor that's in there, run STX.
2) Swap in the motor that comes with it, have a blast regionally in SMF.
They're comfy. They're reliable as an anvil, they're fast, and they handle well. Not many downsides to these cars.
