I've shipped running cars all over the place, but I've never had one shipped on to me, nor have dealt with a non-runner. I know it adds to the expense, and the car is cheap enough and rare enough that there's a little money left for shipping, but I'm wondering about how much additional hassle there is for everyone involved. Who's done this before?

I shipped a car from Tennessee to Illinois once. The owner of the car helped a bit with loading but the shipper had a winch. I ended up going through one of the shipping distribution houses. Found out later the 150 I paid them was for their service and the 500 I paid the driver was his. So about 650 including the extra for loading the car, about 100 extra. So, when I was setting it up, I made sure they knew it was a non runner.

What car, where in IL? We are supposed to be heading to CT on Thursday, but I doubt the logistics will work.

I believe it's an '81 Mazda 626 in Winnebago, Illinois. I was hoping to be able to lend a hand somehow but it's way up by Chicago.
