ALL Scorpios had the Cologne V6.
I wouldn't list that as a "pro".
Scorpios are weird cars, kinda big-brother of the XR4Ti only not. (They are not really related to the Sierra, although I guess they can donate the rear suspension to allow discs on an XR4Ti)
They're kinda like if Ford made a hatchback 5-series. These may actually slot between the mid-80s 5 and 7 series for size. Now think about driving a tank like that with a Ranger 2.9 mated to nothing but an automatic.
Hey now! You're going to hurt my Capri's feelings. What's wrong with a Cologne V6? I have a Scorpio motor in my garage that will eventually find it's way into my Capri in place of the Cologne 2600 that's in it now. You know. The one I can't get to run right.
Never heard of it? You must be a youngin'
Seems like a dime a dozen SOHC 4.0 out of an Explorer would drop right in there....

You and I both know there's a world of difference between a 2600 and the 2.9 truck motor I don't think even the camshafts interchange.
Respect the Cologne V6...
Especially when it's sporting the Kugelfischer injection. Sweet.
But the 2.9 came in some pretty sweet flavors too, like the Cosworth 24 valve.
But the 2.9 in that Granada doesn't have a lot to apologize for. Okay, except for maybe the two Bosch air meters. But the twin throttle body is cool!
Still, nice little engine, that.
Guess I can't leave an ode to the Cologne without a 2.8 Injection.
I was just thinking this weekend that I wish I could find one of these locally.
Having driven about 4 or 5 different Capris over the years, and 1 or 2 Rangers with the 2.8 or 2.9 engine, I would say the engine is a pretty decent powerplant...usually. The older, smaller displacement versions actually seem to be the better engines, but that may just be due to less stringent emissions controls. Like many small(er) displacement engines, the automatic is definitely a CON. As a truck engine, yeah, it's okay, but the 2.8 or 2.9 with auto somehow manages to slip "over the line" and becomes a bit too trucky. Heck, even with the manual (and there were a few/very few of these with manual transmissions) they aren't nearly the car a BMW is.
I'd buy it for the unusual hatchback in such a largish car, which both BMW and Audi have recently "resurrected".

The one in NJ is about 1100 miles from where I now live. And as is par for 99% of CL ads....no pucking mention of miles on the odo. BUT, can sure talk up those "Euro" parts, can't we?
I wouldnt mind getting a Scorp. I have had several XRs. Including two right now.
