Post 67s have wider transmission tunnels - less fab work to fit the v8 and t5.

Right now with the value of MGB's what they are the smart thing to do is buy the nicest one you can. You can buy a really clean but maybe not concours MGB tourer or GT for a lot less than you could make a ratty one nice.

Of course I didn't follow my own advice, but I bought my MGB-GT almost 20 years ago.
