I spent 6 months on a project in Medellin, Colombia.
The traffic was a vast sea of tiny taxicabs, and microvans like that one, from various manufacturers.
I wonder what it would take to get one of those microvans here?

Had one. That was my plan.
Never found a micro van cheap enough.
Now here's one. Too late.
JThw8 has my WRX engine, putting it in a Wartburg.
Sigh...
The place where I stay in Aruba has a Chevy mico van that looks a lot like this one (probably rebadged)
It would be pretty good for taking the bike to the races, and sleeping in the back. We have a lot of those Subaru vans around here, as well as the ones that are tarted up to look like the old VW micro bus. Not really my thing.
When my latest pro-ject is complete, it will make my Swift GT surplus. Thinking of selling it and buying one of these
Where I live it would make a good daily driver

Better than that-your feet are against the inside of the front sheet metal. The older ones have a ventilation flap on the front that, when open, you can see the road in front of you through.

Not sure where your at but a few years ago Disney World in Florida seem to have a bunch of these that their cleaning /maintenance people used. May be worth trying them to see when they go up for sale if your not too far.
Where I live, we don't get a lot more snow than you do They are 4WD, though. I bet they'd do alright in the snow.
You can buy them up here pretty easily.
I don't think I've ever seen a 2WD one here, but if I can't tell the difference between 2WD and 4WD, I probably deserve to get burned

Well I'm a little behind schedule on that project so I could arrange to let you have it back if you really wanted to do this. ;)
american public university has buildings all over our medium sized town and they use those vans and those little trucks as employee shuttles and maintenance vehicles, drive them on public roads and everything. I guess since they have such a big presence here they don't get hassled for it, but I don't think they have tags or anything, just triangles on the rear of the vehicle.
I've seen those at the military bases... apparently they are not street legal in the US...
I've also seen a few sold as hunting vehicles... interesting sideways mounted engine under the front seat...

Depends on the state.

There is a dealer in Gainesville. I think it was Mitchell who started a thread about them. Great, now I have to try to find out where the used ones all go!
they go up for sale all the time around here, usually 4wd. people use them a lot on farms (and on roads with a farm use tag) and also on hunting leases. They aren't much bigger than a side by side and you can get used ones with a turbo motor and 4wd for $6000.
They are 10' long, bumper to bumper.
They fit in the back of a full sized pickup truck with the tailgate down.
You can fit 7 of them in a 40' shipping container, if you set the front wheels of each one in the bed of the unit in front of it. (Ask me how I know)
