wow... http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/3797223909.html

It's a 96 subaru...$500 with 294k

A small snip of the ad

This car was stolen about two years ago. I dropped it off at a repair shop in Northwood, OH to be looked at by an expert mechanic and for whatever reason left the keys in the ignition, because seriously, what's the worst that's going to happen in Northwood, OH? Well, I got a call the next day from the Northwood Police, asking me if I knew where my car was. Turns out that someone had been fleeing from the Police and had been stealing cars all the way through Ohio. They'd stolen a utility truck and driven it until it ran out of gas. . . right next door to the repair shop. They say my car unlocked with keys in, and swiped it. This particular leg of the getaway lasted for about 1/4th of a mile, as apparently my car was too E36 M3ty for even them, so they dumped it in a nice neighborhood and stole someone's Lexus. I didn't even bother reporting it stolen, since no damage had been done, and in fact the thief had left some mints in the cup holder (yum!). He got caught, and I figured having driven in my car was punishment enough, and didn't press charges.

I actually wish I lived in detroit. It's obvious the guy likes the car and does not want to see it crushed. I'd rescue it.

I actually used to live quiteclose to Northwood, OH. It is a very odd and narrow strip of land. I was unaware of any Subaru experts there.

In his defense, he didn't say it was a Subaru expert. Just an "expert mechanic." Perhaps this mechanic was an expert in lawn mower repair.....

Same here. That was a fun read. I'd save it too if I was nearby. Granted, it almost sounds like $500 is a bit steep.
