WTF was that being parted for if it ran and drove? 
I suspect that it's either a theft recovery or a flood car, and probably an automatic with a salvage title.
Me thinks it is an auto. The shift area has a bunch of plugs hanging out of it. I don't recall my manual one having that much electrical stuff.

For what it's worth those wheels were only an option on the autos. Most came with smaller 16's, IIRC.

They also came on 6sp cars......I can't remember the package name, but there was a trim level with them.

It's a 4 port engine = autotragic
I have those wheels (plus an extra set) on my 04 RX8 in 18". Too the best of my knowledge, standard on early manual RX8's. May be option on AT but most AT have 16" wheels. Brake size was the reason, 6-speed has larger brakes than AT. Lot of stuff missing in that engine compartment.
No mention of title. Hiding from repo man? Broke it with no insurance? Smells a bit.
He still owes on it. It was involved in an accident.
