It has an automatic, but can't you swap in a MR2 transmission?

My mom had one of those (non supercharged though), when I got my license. I made it do things it never should have done. They handle quite well, but really liked to bottom out in the rear.
That looks just like mine. They handle surprisingly well. They don't feel like they should because of the mushy suspension and floppy tires, but they surprise you with their cornering ability if you let them.

You might want to look at this first before thinking about MR2 stuff;
Maybe a W58 would fit there? I don't really speak Toyota so it's just a guess. In any case, there's probably some combination of OEM parts that could be massaged into working together.
Well that's different...
Also, let's go back to 1994, when 12 year old me was visiting his sister selling cars at the local Toyota dealer. In the showroom were two vehicles: a red Supra Turbo, and a maroon (with gold badges!!!) loaded AWD supercharged Previa. Guess which one cost more?
Yup, you guessed it, the Previa!
The Supra was stickered around $44k, and the Previa was a couple grand more. I remember my dad saying something like "who the hell would want to buy that bubble on wheels for more than that Supra???"

You know, a LSx with a car intake isn't much taller than that...

Tall enough to make the valve covers go where your lower seat bolsters should be. I have a Previa, and an LSx. Have measured. Very much would love to put them together.
That is a great picture. I find it funny how long the front drive shaft(s) are and how short the rear.
