NMNA usual biz. Has a idle problem and needs a driver window, but looks fairly clean in the pics. Well under budget.

Somebody buy that. It has a vacuum leak. Probably due to the terrible ebay knockoff bov.
If it really does need an ecu... I have two that would work in that car, you pay shipping. Ecus don't go bad in these though.
He painted the fuse box cover and overflow tank blue...WTF. But that looks like a good start for someone. Some day when these are all gone, I'll kick myself for not buying all the $700 ones that seem to be popping up lately. I've got too much on my plate.

I was thinking the same thing, there's a vac leak somewhere.
"Don't ruhn ratt. Muhst nayed wunna thum thurr a-say-ewes. Fuggin jap crap. Imuh gunn trade this peesuhE36 M3 furr a corrburrated muss-tang."
The hard pipe setup could also be indication of the vacuum leak. Almost nobody gets the right size to go over the throttle body the first try.

Heres one in my area.
How fun are those if the engine stays totally stock? In California things like an exhaust pipe dumping out in front of the front wheel aren't quite street legal lol.
They're quite fun stock. I had a drop-in K&N panel filter in mine, otherwise stock, and I never felt like it lacked power. They have torque steer issues, if you can accept that then they steer nice. They handle decently from the factory, stop decently, and have amazingly comfortable seats. Like, 8 hours straight in the car and you get out feeling normal, that kind of comfortable seat.
If you can test drive it, it's worth checking out.

Like.... stock-appearing, but not actually stock?
T-bird Hybrid turbo, chipped ECU (swap back for smog), and a boost controller will have you laughing pretty hard.
There's a dude selling nice 2.5" downpipes that clear a/c and p/s for a good price right now as well. Not sure if that's an option, but it makes a big difference for power, as well as temperatures.
In reply to Swank Force One:
See, I don't think these cars need more power to be fun, especially with the torque steer issues they have at stock power levels. I think improving the handling, finding a really good strut/spring combo, that sort of thing would be nice. I'm not arguing against turning up the power levels but this isn't a slow car waiting for more motor (like some might say about the MX-5, for instance), so there might be other routes to fun. Plus, I don't remember there being a lot of good strut options for these cars, so that might be better to explore when explaining 'good upgrades' to others.
Just my two cents.
They feel faster than they are in stock form.... mid 15s is about all they're good for. When you can cut a solid second or more off that time in the quarter for a couple happy meals, it doesn't make much sense to NOT do it.
As for as strut options... i ran 2nd gen MX6 KYB GR2s for awhile with a set of 2nd gen Mx6 lowering springs. Nice street combo, and didn't cost much at all. (Think i paid $350 brand new for it all.)
Now i'm running 2nd gen Tokico Illuminas. Mndsm's car will be running Konis. Reds in back (actually front Mx6 reds), and Yellows in the front from some other car. I can dig up exactly what i picked up, it'll require mild modification, but if i can do it, any GRMer can.
If not bound by a challenge budget, then i'd suggest just skipping to KSports or an Illumina/GC setup.
Also: Torque steer is an issue that stock turbo cars have, and more so stock turbo cars with worn out suspension/steering components. Mndsm's car didn't torque steer too badly when it was a stock turbo car. My car doesn't have any real noticeable amount of torque steer.
Is there a 4 door or wagon version of these? They are starting to grow on me, but the impracticality of the car is an issue.
In reply to ProDarwin:
Yeah, the 626. Came in sedan and the rare hatchback, both available as turbos. I've seen a couple of the hatches around, had a sedan myself.
There was a wagon overseas that i lust after... but here we just got the MX6, 626 sedan, and 626 Touring. Touring GTs are uncommon, but out there. If you look, you want one WITHOUT the 4 wheel steering. Gigantic trunk/hatch area, and all the other goodness of the MX6.
Swap 626 seats for MX6 seats for a 1-2" lower seating position and better bolstering.
Lol yes stock appearing is good enough. I kinda want to try driving one, I used to see someone autocross one until it got totaled by a badly designed course, and other than the body roll it looked fun. I have the AutoX magazine with the test on them when they were new someplace too.
In reply to Travis_K:
You still have to berkeley up in a big way to total a vehicle on an autox course.....Even a badly designed one.

I wasn't there, but from what I understand it was a course with a crossover at some point (which I think they may no longer do, but it was normal at the time), and the person who was working at the start wasn't informed of what point the car on course needed to pass before sending another car out, so the 2 cars hit each other.
Autocross isn't really their calling, in my opinion, though i know of at least one that seems to be pretty damn fast. If you search for "Gavin's autocross build" or something like that, you should see a pretty all-out DSP build of one of these.
And there was another dude who went by "Ragnarock" that used to autocross his as well... STX and then Street Mod if i remember correctly.
Personally, i feel like sinking gigantic sums of money into these cars isn't really the point, and i'd struggle to spend more than $5k on any example. I think they're better suited as cheapass hooligan street brawler daily drivers. Mine has been the best daily driver i've ever had.

Im pretty sure he is the one who had the car that got wrecked, there used to be 2 though, a red one and a white one, and the red one was the one that crashed.
Gavin had both a red and a white one.... the red one he used for Stock class autocross, never heard much about it after it lunched a motor due to a bad head job. He may have put it back together and it got crashed, but i'm really not sure.
The white one is the DSP car.
