Ok today i have not 1 but 2 volkswagon sciroccos! here is the skinny:
first is a 1984. dark gold (some say light brown) in color w/ tan interior. car has sat outside most its life so paint is faded. no rust at all except where paint has basically faded off on the hood. car has the 1.8 litre engine w/ 5 speed. shifts in all gears fine. e-brake works. jetronic ecu but otherwise all stock. just installed a brand new fuel pump. 122112 miles on the odo. So the bad: needs hood release cable, need a rear wheel cyinder (leaking) and need some fine tuning (maybe a tune up, plugs, etc) as it will idle and go to 1/2 throttle but if you try to go to full throttle it dies out. also will need a battery.
Second is a 1985. Silver in color w/ grey/black interior. has gti rear deck and spoiler, lowered springs, teardrop wheels, jetronic ecu, neuspeed throttle body, and short shifter. no rear seats. shifts into all gears. 1.8 litre engine w/ 5 speed. So the bad: needs hood release cable, needs parking brake cable, and some tinkering as the car will start but not stay idling - i know the frequency valve is not getting power but dont know where to look for the relay/fuse/power source.
I bought these cars to turn them into race cars so when i bought them i overlooked things as they were going to be completely rebuilt anyway. we have found a better car for the class so i am selling these to make room for them. I will separate the cars as well if needed. Have some spare parts as well for them. can email or call me at 404-314-6175 w/ questions or to get directions to view.

YOur E36 M3ting me. Either of those cars is worth more than the asking price for both up here in rust country.
Frequency valve? Is that part of the flux capacitor or a real live VW part?
Who wants to go in halfsies? I'll take the one most likely to get back to Vermont!
I'll go halfsies, but you have to deliver the silver one to my driveway.
So much for not wanting any more project cars.
Phenomenal deal. I bet I could flip both of those up here in Ohio for 2-3 grand a piece.
Damn you, Paul!
If I had the storage space!
On second thought, since they are in GA, they probably don't have titles.

Why? Is it the law in GA that old cars don't need titles or is this a dig at GA I don't understand?
Confused adopted Yankee

Anything older than 85 is not required to have a title. In fact, if you try to title any car older than 85, they revoke your title, and refuse to issue you a new one.
Don't need titles in Vermont.
Can anyone check these out for me?
i own these cars. GA doesnt issue titles older than 1985 but all states recognize this so the bill of sale from GA is legal tender in other states. Other states like alabama have this as well.

Maybe so, but SC is the most anal retentive state you've ever seen for vehicle titles. And we are only seperated by a river.
If I had the space I would check to that and buy these. I've love Sciroccos since day 1.
Well, hopefully if everything goes well, I'm gonna go take a look at one of these this week, maybe today. I'm more interested in the silver one with the black hood/roof

It's a real part. It looks like a little inline EFI fuel injector that goes between the upper and lower halves of the fuel distributor. It's used to enrich the fuel mixture when the O2 sensor detects a lean condition. It's one of the few electronic parts of the CIS w/ Lambda system.
I was once a CIS nerd.

So if the relay is bad, can I swap it out with the horn relay? Or can I jump it?
IIRC, the frequency valve gets it's power from the ECU (or the ground, I can't remember). Either way, there really is no relay for the frequency valve. There is a fuse for the ECU that could cause the frequency valve to not get voltage. Generally when the frequency valve isn't working it will idle fine and run great when cold, but run like total crap when warm. You can adjust the AFM to make it a little more tolerable. Idle issues are almost always vacuum related. Check for a torn intake boot, usually at the throttle body.
In reply to 16vCorey:
Cool, thanks. He does list that it has a "Neuspeed Intake", so Ill check around where it meets up to the throttle body.
He is saying it will start, but won't idle correctly.
The Neuspeed intake is generally just a metal tube that replaces the stock plastic tube, but retains the stock boots. I could easily see someone replacing the tube without noticing that the boots where dry rotted and cracked, and possibly even making them worse.
