Truly. They're doing ok with it, 180hp out of 1.6 liters on stock boost.

Not really...

Looks like the surface area is about 3" x 25"- 75 square inches of surface area.

Your supercharged MINI has a surface area of 11" x 6"- 66 square inches of surface area.

Plus, the supercharged MINI intercooler is about 2" thick, the R56's is more like 3"- that's twice as much volume.

Not to mention, they actually put the R56's intercooler somewhere where it can get some air flowing through it.
