My "winter project" is moving so fast that it's almost done and it hasn't even snowed yet. Oy.

I thought about another motorcycle project but that would be just another bike, you can only ride one at a time. Car project? Track car, Auto-Xer? It would interfere with flying.

I always liked these and could flip it or pass it along to my son; are clean examples hard to find and worth the effort?

Thanks, Dan

I haven't seen a Rampage in years. They only made them for two years. It's clone, the Plymouth Scamp, was only available in 1893.

Finding one that isn't rotted in the quarters is not that easy. Even clean ones will often have some rot on the floors at the seam where the pan meets the firewall. This is usually caused by cracked seam sealer in the cowl allowing water to leak down the firewall, which is absorbed by the sound deadener under the carpet...meaning the floor rots from the inside out.

I love the color. That could be a neat project, the turbo bits should bolt right in.

If its non rusty (like doesn't have holes in it anywhere), yes they are rare enough to be desirable. Even if it does have a little rust, it still might be worth it if its not falling apart. They are very hard to find now. Turbo 2.2, newer mopar 2.0 or 2.4, and VW 4 cylinder are all possible swaps that wouldn't take too much major fabrication. I know there is at least one with a VW turbo diesel.

1893 huh? I bet it came with real wagon wheels and real horsepower...

I've at times wished I'd have not jumped at the El Camino so quickly and had been willing to bid more on the Rampage that came up at auction less than a week after that purchase- I really like the styling of them.

As for are they worth it, I think they are. Had one for quite a while back when I worked on mining equipment. It took everything we threw at it, and kept on chugging along. The low slung bed is a joy to load. It holds a lot more than you'd expect.

I have it on good authority that there will be a Rampage at the Challenge next year...

OK, now I have to get the Elky done by the Challenge so there can be a Ute Shootout. Now if only someone were bringing a Ranchero...

Technically, 1982-1984= 3 years.

I've had a few over the years, but that one is pretty over price for the shape it is in. Dragged this one home for scrap price a while back.

I won't discuss the "ahead of its time" 1893 Scamp. ;)
