'94 Miata M Edition, Montego Blue/Tan. Consider it a parts car that conveniently moves under its own power.
The good:
- Runs
- Drives
- Stops
- Turns
- Does all of the above in a surprisingly reliable manner
- Front shocks and brakes appear relatively new
- Miata
The BAD:
- RUSTY, RUSTY, RUSTY. RUST. Like whoa. Floor, rockers, you name it it's rusty.
- Burns oil. Doesn't seem to consume an awful amount, but smokes pretty heavily on cold starts. Previous owner suspected valve seals, specifically he thought it was one that cracked because the smoking started overnight. It does run decently enough.
- 2nd gear grinds on quick-ish shifts
- EXTERIOR: DESTROYED. Not one good body panel.
- INTERIOR: DESTRYOED
- TOP: DESTROYED
- WILL NOT COME WITH TORSEN LSD. WILL HAVE 1.6 OPEN DIFF.
- NO TITLE. BILL OF SALE ONLY
- True mileage unknown. Odometer reads ~22k, previous owner said it's "probably close to 200k"
The car is inspected in the state of VT until the end of this month, at which point it will never pass again. I will be keeping the LSD, rear swaybar, factory subframe braces, headrest speakers (if they're still there), and probably the top. However, if you want the car even cheaper I would keep the MAF, coil pack, and diff. We can work something out in that case.
The car DOES run and drive. I'm going to drive it to work momentarily. It spent quite a lot of time going sideways on a lake this winter, I've put close to 2000 miles on it. However I would recommend towing it on the basis that it is kind of a death trap. But, if you're brave, it does drive. It will also come with completely shot snow tires on VW steelies. If you want to drive it, bringing wheels would be wise. But not as wise as bringing a trailer.
I'm hoping to get the diffs swapped this weekend, the car will be available after that. I don't want to be sitting on this thing very long, I'll pull what I want and scrap it in a week or two if it doesn't sell.
How much do I want for all this magnificence? $400/obo. Trade for fun parts for my '96 Miata? Beer? Open to offers! Located in Waterbury, Vermont.
