The good:
Engine has the following replaced ~1 year ago - timing belt, water pump, tensioner, pulley, assorted gasket, new radiator, PCV, new clutch, plugs, wires, cap, button.
New OEM Honda master cylinder, new OEM Honda brake lines, new OEM Honda rear hubs, new OEM Honda rear wheel cylinders, brake fluid is ATE Super blue. Pads are Hawk HP Pluses (pads are pretty new) on the front on new rotors and rears are generic Advance auto shoes.
Nearly brand new set of Falken Ziex 912s on OEM rims (about 1000 miles on the tires)
The bad:
No seats
No sunroof (patched with metal piece)
No rear cargo box, side boxes, divider
Engine burns some oil
Rear quarter rust
Right rocker has some rust
$700. I should have this ready to go in ~2 weeks. I can throw a driver's seat in there and drive it to the owner within a 300 mile radius of Pittsburgh, PA.
Hhhhmmmm....I'm in Allentown, PA. Do you have any pictures of it? Is the rest of the interior there (dash, etc...)?
Hmm , Berea Ohio (Steelers fan, if that makes a difference) , about 160 miles. Pictures!?
So tempting. You can totally drive it to my place and take a turbo Volvo wagon back with you.
Doesn't come with those wheels. Rest of the interior is there.
Will take detailed photos if needed.
Sorry no trades, unless you have 20 something year old attractive single daughters or sisters who make lots of money so they can support my automotive habit.
Really, really tempting. What are the odds it'll pass PA inspections? Suspension worn or is it decent?
Car has never failed PA inspection or emissions in the ~6 years I've owned the car. It is currently inspected till June or July. I'll have to check. I'll gladly go and get it inspected. Suspension is OEM from a relatively low mileage car.
To all: name your location in 300 miles of Pittsburgh, and I'll drive it there. I still drive the car every other week.
Can you get just a couple of other quick pictures of it?
If you want, you can e-mail me at Klayfish@aol.com
Definitely interested in it. Contemplating if I could use it both as my "winter" car (daily driver is NC Miata, won't go for E36 M3 even on slush and don't want to drive it when roads are real nasty anyway) and also for autox/HPDE duty.
damn....tax returns are coming and Cinci is only 255 miles...thinking. Im assuming it comes with 3 pedals? How is the clutch?
I will try and post some pictures in the next day or so. I come home from my research lab after the birds go to sleep and I get annoyed by E36 M3ty night time cellular telephone pictures.
Car does fine in winter, heat is a little crappy but I have a new heater core in a box somewhere.
Just checking in to see if you had a chance to grab photos.
Didn't SIs have rear disks?
(just checking -I might have an interest too...)
I will grab photos before I leave for the lab tomorrow. No rear discs on 88 Sis. Car runs and drives just fine. Really need this gone before the plates run out in April.
If anyone wants this with a complete interior its yours for $1100. This will have basically two nearly brand new Si seats with zero rips. Cargo box, side dividers, etc that are completely flawless, working sunroof. The interior is more or less in pristine shape and the sunroof doesn't leak or anything.
Rebuild the motor, do some rust repair and you'll have a nice daily driver with some important stuff already fixed. (Brakes, hubs, etc.) Clutch, flywheel, etc as mentioned were replaced. I'd drive the car to the new owner as long as its within reasonable distance.
88-89's had drums, 90-91's had discs, it really doesn't make much difference in my opinion, all the weight is up front under braking anyway.
This car is easily worth $700 if the rust isn't too bad, and that disc brake swap is pretty damn easy of you're hung up on it.
Not a biggie with the rear brakes. Is the upgrade plug-and-play from a newer model?
How many miles on it?
170k miles on body/engine. Driver's seat and steering wheel are upstairs and can go with the car. For $1100 you get a complete car, otherwise I was going to keep the seats, sunroof, cargo box. I'd rather someone pay $1100 and drive this thing home. If additional images are needed please let me know.
Images:
As long as I've owned the car has never been in a wreck. All the body panels are straight and there doesn't appear to be any repair work, atleast not to me.
