for me to complete my spare engine I need one of these bad boys (and some time to do port work but thats another story)
I need an S4 crank pulley (turbo and NA are the same) 86-88 year
pulleys are matched to the front cover/rotating assembly, S5 is NG.
I need the one that is bolted to the e-shaft and the one that bolts to the one that bolts to the e-shaft that the belts ride on.
I SHOULD have these but my last scrap run I got rid of them...
:(

Not in my experience... I swap them around indiscriminately.
I had a GSL-SE pulley and S4 rotating assembly and 12A front cover on one of my engines. Now I have a 12A single-sheave pulley and GSL-SE e-shaft (no pellet, no problem) and S4 rotating assembly and I have no idea what front cover on the current engine...
I also thought the front pulleys interchanged. The front counterweight is what is matched to the rear counterweight and flywheel.

mazdas parts fiche shows 2 different part#s for s4/s5
I've never been able to tell a difference between the two personally.
I know the pulley only bolts onto the e-shaft one way. and the belt pulley only belts onto the e-shaft pulley one way, thats some kaizen E36 M3 right there.
(poka yoke)
The E-shafts are the same and the pulleys are in the same spot so they interchange as assembly.
It's true that the water pump pulley has to match the water pump since Mazda changed the bolt pattern AND / OR the pilot diameter every three years because why not? But the E-shafts are the same size from '67 to 2012 so that's no worry.
All I have extra is a dual racing unit

I did not know this, interesting. Makes sense too. Same bellhousing pattern from the 70s to 2012 too.

racing beat or mazda competition part? I'm interested...

FTFY... What a dork I am.
I guess you cannot continously improve what was perfect the first time...

You can improve it to take a third rotor or even fourth rotor, and they DID!

Dunno. It was on a blown engine I took posession of. I'll look for markings.
In reply to DaveEstey:
E36 M3, im tempted and interested, pix or it didnt happen.
I just moved so I need to track it down. Lots of RX7 stuff that needs to be reorganized.

understandable, I'm stuck in Alabama all week anyways. Let me know when you find it. I'm 90% ready to assemble backup spare engine A
Found it. No markings... Weird.
I know it was on a 13B, because I pulled it off myself when I started tearing it down. Car was an E-prod first gen RX7 so I think the engine was ported - it had a 48 dcoe on it too, which would point to that. Need to tear into it and find out.
If it has a rotor milled into the front, they were sold on Ebay to adapt the FD alternator to the FC cars.
I had one on my FC. It was actually a really well made item.
Hey, they still have some like it for sale, apparently made by a company called ASP:

e-shaft pulley, not alternator pulley.
Dave, Im still tempted. Can ya snap me a picture?
