I have a five speed from an early '90s S-10 (NV3500 maybe?). I haven't tested it or taken it apart, but it did leave a permanent grease stain in my driveway from cleaning it. Take this bad boy home with you for only $75.

Forgive my ignorance but I believe so. We got it used from a guy that bought it from a junkyard. The plan was to use it on a 305. Am I right in thinking that the 4.3 had the same bellhousing pattern as the small blocks while the four cylinder (2.2L I think) did not?
How's that for a good, solid answer.
the 4.3 Vortec motor was a 5.0 with 2 cylinders cut off basically, so that would be a yes on the bellhousing pattern. Not sure about the TB 4.3 though. Actually, all the internals, bearings, valves, springs, pistons, rods etc from a small block will fit in the 4.3 Vortec motor, but everyone here already knows that...
In reply to Supercoupe: Did not know that, but it is REALLY good to know while shopping for a used truck with a 4.3. Thanks
"integral" bellhousing=NV3500. The T5 looks almost like every other T5 out there, except the shifter is really close to the main case.
Correct on pattern, except the 60^ V6, 2.8's, has a different pattern too.

5.7l
Ok, then it is a NV3500 as the bellhousing is integral. I knew it wasn't a T5 but after seeing photos I saw what looked like the same trans called a variety of names. Different manufacturers producing the same design?

60 degree v-6 has same pattern as both the 2.2 and 2.5L 4-cylinders. Difference is in the starter pocket, passenger's side on 2.5 and most of the v-6s, driver's side on 2.2L and later v-6s.
