Very old. Might even be an aerodyne, I don't recall exactly what that filter setup means. It's pre-2000 production.
Nice! I bet the car has a lot of period correct mods. AGX shocks?
If I wasn't already driving 3 hours in the opposite direction tomorrow to pick up another car, I may be tempted to snag this one.
Figures...I'm looking for a Miata and just moved 800 miles away from York a few months ago...used to be 20 miles away.
this is FAR too close for comfort. Thankfully it should be spoken for before I get off work this afternoon
I have scheduled a time to check it out, the seller isn't available til sunday, I asked what time they plan on waking up haha

Good luck. That always makes me nervous with craigslist. Show up on Sunday as the "first available appointment" and the thing is sold. Sorry to put that fear in your head, but seems to be the case so often.
Checked with Bill, he's not sure if it's an Aerodyne setup or a System IV. If it's the former, expect the turbo to have died or be about to die. They weren't long lived. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a conventional turbo with the same footprint so you'd end up replacing the manifold, downpipe and some intake parts if that's the case. The System IV is likely running a Garrett.
Can't tell anything from the pictures about the rest of it.
For what it's worth.... Aerodynes seem to be a bit more reliable these days, though i know nothing of cost.
Worst case scenario, the car is part out gold.
I'll be sure to let everyone know what happens from the adventure. If it's running a T25 flanged Garrett you'll be getting a call to setup an order for next month Keith.
sadly not, it was a disappointing weekend of Miata shopping, a BRG NA with hardtop in northern VA turned out to be a respray, thus not an M edition with torsion diff, and was a rusted and rough enough to put it into retired drift car condition status, it needed a ring job and the interior managed to be rougher then the exterior as well.
Then the car the OP was kind enough to share. I don't know if the owner had seller's remorse or what the situation is/was, but I was to check out the car early Sunday morning. After asking the seller what fuel system upgrades, turbo and engine management the car was running Friday, they stopped returning text. I attempted to contact them Saturday to confirm the time and location to meet sunday morning without response. Sunday since I was heading west to Frederick, I swung up to York PA and called them when I was en route, twice while up there and once when returning from Frederick without an answer or returned call.
SWMBO really wants a Miata now though. I'll be looking again starting in November as the next 6 weeks my weekends are booked and I won't have time to check anything out

I don't know what it is about Craigslist, but I feel like if you don't go running to see the car with the initial contact, something like this will always happen.
You'll need to log in to post.
