I recognize the photos. These cars have been on here before from the same seller. I don't remember the price last time but now at $300 each, they are properly at scrap pricing.
They were considerable more moolah last time, $1500 I think? I'd like to have another one even knowing their issues....
If they were closer I would scoop 'em up. I think I could make one run long enough to go 20 miles... maybe.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. There needs to be a special prize or bounty for a Bi-Turbo entering, and completing the $20xx challenge. Extra points for using the original engine. Equal amount of extra points if the engine is swapped, but still has twin turbos.
There is a Bi-Turbo convertible that I see driving around my area somewhat regularly in good weather, so some of them must actually run.
On Cleveland Craigslist is a BiTurbo with a 1UZ swap. I watched the build on retrorides since I have the stuff sitting here an I thought it would make a sweet setup. It does.

Went looking for the car you mentioned and found this; http://bringatrailer.com/2015/06/29/lexus-v8-swapped-1985-maserati-biturbo/
I don't like the wheels or interior but it's an actual driveable BiTurbo. Wheels and interior can be fixed, manual swap can happen.... not at $6500 though.

What will the bounty be? A small country and 50% stake in Moon ownership?

Thank you for not posting it.
Were one of them a convertible I'd be all over it. Still regret not trying harder to get a barn-find convertible BiTurbo when it came up at auction here a few years back. Maybe it's the fact they look so close to my 'D design-wise...
Are the Maserati engines that bad, or is it electrical gremlins, trannys etc that take them off the road. I don't think you could take any three of them and get 100k miles on the odometer.

I'm assuming a combination of really really bad engine controls (I remember a road test that said you knew you were in boost because the engine started detonating hard. Also the carburetor used was not amenable to going around corners without bogs/stutters) and bad machining. Supposedly there was a filter in the deck to keep crud from getting to the head. Crud stops up the filter and the head starves for oil and siezes a cam.
Not mine, etc...
