Something about that Tempest...
I'm going to pretend I didn't see this. I definitely don't have room for that.
Anyone remember Bangshifts Beaford T Justice project. It's gone quiet but I loved that. The 77 would be perfect for duplicating that which I assume is the one Tom was referring to as the POS

Indeed. I think some of you like that era of cars better than I do because you didn't live through it. Nothing like a 150hp small block that gets 12 mpg.
Yeah, and into the 80s. Remember whan the 5.0 mustang broke into the 200 bhp range and it was a big deal. WTF?!

150hp was then. Small block chubby's are like Lego. Plug in and play from the pick and pull your way to xxx hp
P.S. I fantasized about 150hp back in the 80's. I started with a 39hp Hillman Imp and thought 1.6L Pinto's making 70hp were super hi po stuff. You lucky Yanks had sooooo much power in the 70's
Ok, so "goodness" was said a little tongue in cheek...
But the Tempest...

So, slow and slower. I mean, we had plenty of 40hp VW Beetles running around in the US in the 70s, too. It was a dark time, man. A dark, dark time to be a car person.
39hp isn't much, but 70 in a 3000 some odd pound 1975 Ford Granada through a 3 speed auto and a 3.08:1 rear end is going to be even slower. I admit this is the worst I could think of, but still.

But that was every car in those days. The best selling cars were Granadas and Novas and Aspens and such. All woefully underpowered, poorly built, awful handling crap-mobiles.
My first two cars were a 77 Cougar and a 77 Granada. The Cougar, with a 351M, didn't make enough torque to break a single rear wheel loose (no LSD) even when you brake-torqued it. The Granada (302) was worse. That car would actually lose speed climbing hills while floored.
The only reason people have any regard for those cars is that they are old. It's not because of any redeeming quality they have.
