1980, would that still be aircooled or not? I just remember my parents' 78 Westy burned to the ground on a road trip, and the fuel injection system on their 83 had the VW dealer so stymied they wanted to ship the engine back to Germany.
They were great on trips, though (when they ran, and weren't on fire)
