I really appreciate the offer, racinginc215.
It's 9:33pm. No emails, tried calling, no answer. No deal.
So if someone else wants to try multiple calls and emails, have at it.
Five years from now an unmolested version of that Celica will be bringing some good money. The peoples who drove those as kids will want to start to re-live those times,
and that car will be a good candidate for that market. That's why no modifications. Find one in southern Cal that hasn't been pimped or butchered.
So, the chase is over for me on this one. There will be other cars.
rally was just what i was thinking for it.
While I am not omnipotent, I have NEVER seen that car in town. I also tried the eMail/Call route and got nothing.
john brown you in lansing? im in GR, now i know who to look for when im wondering about local events
I got an answer to some of the questions about this celica:
"123k on the original engine. The car came from South Carolina which is why it isnt rusty. Does need a little work, 2 brake rotors, and 2 injectors are not firing. Checked by electrical expert and may need computer, which is about $150 to repair. Manual transmission.."
He goes on to say call at either of the two numbers in the ad. I'm still going to pass on it. So, anyone going to bite?
I would bite, but my finances are tied up elsewhere. If it hangs around (and it shouldn't) i'm on it.

You know you TRD sells .250 over pistons for that motor.
New copper gasgets and a megasqurt. You be set
So school me on the difference between this Celica and the Celica Supra. IIRC, the Supra was a Celica trim level first, then became it's own model. This is not that? Is it a notchback/hatchback thing?

This Celica is a Celica. The Celica Supra had an inline 6, probably bigger brakes, and a different front end. Not available in notch form. Also strangely the Supra is more common these days.
Seats were different, interior was different, etc etc etc.
But the basis of the cars, that being the chassis, were largely the same. You see quite a few people dumping 7mgtes into the 3rd gen Celicas because it's fairly simple.
2nd gen Celica would be relevant to MKi Supra.
3rd gen Celica would be relevant to MKii Supra
Starting with the MKiii, the Supra became it's own entity.
Those cars look cool, but they have no headroom, like none, at all. I wouldnt even take one for free becasue i couldnt drive it.

Hrmmm.... really? How tall are you? I've seen some BIG dudes drive these things. I'm 5'9", and i had at least a half foot of clearance, and i've got a fairly long torso.
