How about.... you put a transmission worth a damn in that thing so you can boost it down the road and not spit drivetrains every event.
I've got what you guys need.
Read up on the Toyota gearbox/transfer case conversion. If it interests you.... get at me, i have one.

It's not really a "kit"....
But there's someone on here that's done it. He's got two AWD Proteges, one he rallys, one is a street car. One makes 340awhp i believe?
He's really the subject matter expert on it. I'll see if i can remember his screen name so you can pick his brain.
It involves an adapter plate and then some parts bin engineering, which you're going to be messing with anyways if you're converting an Escort to AWD.
I believe it's this dude...

Pretty sure one of those is running a 'Yota gearbox.
Didn't an AWD Protege run at the 2009 challenge? I'm pretty sure I saw it at the concours de LeMons at the Mitty. IIRC, it was Hong related...

PM incoming.

Hey Duke, Where are you guys planning on rallycrossing? I'm not far from you and didn't know there was anything local. -Jim

The local SCCA region events for Northeast Ohio.
In reply to DukeOfUndersteer:
I'm a member of the NeOhio SCCA, and I am not aware that they have any rallycross. Am I wrong?
There are none. There is OVR which usually runs at National Trails Raceway in Hebron (ovr-scca.org) and WOR which runs near Dayton. Detroit also has events, those are the closest to NE Ohio.

Wrong
Get Maroon back in a Panther chassis and make all your rallycross/dukes if hazzard dreams come true. Or leave your escort fwd. They're just about as good as any orther fwd option. Ask me how I know.
edit: put a gtx gas tank, better yet parts car on your list because the parts are all a bit different back there than the BG chassis escorts.
There was an AWD tracer at the challenge. Build thread here.
You'll need to log in to post.
