I don't suppose one of you folk has a cheap and scruffy old 4x4 truck somewhere in the Maryland area? One that is reasonably reliable and eligible for historic tags (pre 1992 as I recall).
My venerable Toyota T100 has recently let it be known it wants a fair bit of work now, and I'm contemplating just replacing it with some sort of beater farm truck instead.
I highly recommend a Tbi 350 especially a 5spd with the NV4500 trans with manual t case chevy for ease of service and reliability.

This. the NV3500 / 4.3L combo isn't bad either if you don't need a ton of hauling power.
Nolan have one its in Pa but could bring it down to you have it's on CL for 1500.00 but to you $1250.00 for working with me on Falcon its a 96 with 207k on it just went thru pa inspection and emissions its a auto
You have my curiosity with that one. I was thinking older to avoid emissions and inspection (MD inspection is such fun), but that one looks quite solid and worthy of discussion.
Edit. Am I seeing this right, is that an F150 extended cab long bed?

If Nolan doesn't buy it, I may be interested. My BMW just broke. Again. And I need a back-up DD ASAP.

yea, its the 8ft bed behind the supercab......that said, I think thats a '97. Unless some of the very first of that body style were titled as a '96 erroneously.
An 8 foot bed extended cab raises my interest even more.
I shot you an email about it.
I know diddly about Ford trucks, any particular pitfalls I should be aware of regarding them?
The cab mounts can rust out. If the triton ever loses oil pressure and goes down its a nightmare to work on and replace.
But mostly they are very solid and last with regular maintenance. Frame, trans, rearend and 4wd issues are uncommon.

My future BIL had a 2wd 5.4L just like that, his lunched an ecu and spit the #8 spark plug and coil pack out.
IIRC, they did have the 4.6L and 4.2L v6 in 4x4 models as well as the 5.4L(probably the best these came with)
Cutter, check the vin with a ford dealer pertaining to the cruise control recall......don't need crispyness.
FYI the truck need to be 20 years or older (1993 M.Y) to get around all the bullE36 M3 rules in M.D
I might know someone who might want to sell his (1992) F150, I will see what his plans are with the truck.

Nolan my email thinks you are spam and kicks you in the junkmail give me a call about truck. it is titled as a 96

If its a '97 (OBD 2) then I'm especially interested if Nolan doesn't want it. I've decided any future cars will be OBD 2 or pre-emmissions entirely. Dealing with the middle era stuff sucks in Pa.
It's like the gods are conspiring. I get bounced instantly to a scratchy broken up voice mail, that promptly hangs up.
Ian, I'm stepping to the side. I'm thinking historic tag old/cheap. Where's a Falcon 4x4 truck when I need it, lol.
Winter is ending, so I've got the summer to shop or work on my truck. I'm in no rush.

I have an '86 Toyota Shortbed (4x4/22r/5-speed/lifted) I've recently been forced to give up due to a technicality in Chicago parking laws. It's at my parents' house near Philadelphia (but I do have a friend who lives in Maryland who could possibly deliver it). It's rusty as hell but it's indestructible (this is, after all, essentially the same truck as the Hilux of top gear fame minus diesel) and incredibly badass (it is also essentially the same truck as the Shortbed of Back to the Future Fame, minus some black paint and some KC bits). I haven't gotten the chance to post it on Craigslist yet, but I was planning to put it up for $1500.
Here's an awful instagram picture of it covered in salt - http://instagram.com/p/U4ggM5pc9j/
The black paint on the bed is chalkboard paint, for the record.
If you're interested, shoot me an email at rarehberg@gmail.com and I'll dig up some more pics and further details. Then if you're still interested you can make me an offer and we can go from there!
Cutter if Ian passes on it, lemme know. I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

All of the above, the 4.3, even in tired scruffy form, in front of an auto, is adequate for a half ton. You wont break the auto with a 4.3 in front of it either.
Masterchef,
I do appreciate the offer. But I don't want to go back down in size.
Damn my luck. I had an 86 toyota short bed in college. I loved it. I want another. But I'm actually at he dmv right now registering a minivan. FML.
Just wanted to toss it out there, but I had a Ranger STX with 4x4 and a good fuel mileage thanks to the 2.9L. It wasa really cool and fun truck. Wish I didn't lose the pictures on my old computer. It got wrecked when a Lincoln tried to park in the bed at 40 mph and sammiched between that car and a pontiac. Tightened up the hoses and she kept rolling. truck I ever bought for $250.

Turbocharger.

Looks like you sourced that from ten trucks. Ford mirrors. Aftermarket bumpers. Looks nice, though.

My previous employer just happens to have been Holset. I have ideas.

No problem! You've prompted me to get off my lazy ass and start posting the thing.

Also the floor of the bed, which you can't see, is sourced from trees. I wish I could take credit for all that, but all I can claim are the new tires, fog lights, and smokestack that comes straight out of the bed, which I cobbled together from autozone tubing once the stock exhaust fell off.
