Hi. Looking to upgrade the stock Impreza suspension for Dear Daughter #1's bugeye Impreza wagon. She's complaining about too much body roll in the transitions and definitely needs negative camber at all 4 corners. I figure a WRX suspension will stiffen it up a bit and adding some more cam bolts will get her off the tire shoulders.
Anybody have good condition used struts and springs? They don't need to be OEM if they are decent quality aftermarket. I could also use a front OEM WRX swaybar, if it is thicker than the base Impreza's.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Autocrossing the wagon is a different ball game. If you can learn to embrace the lean, it will serve you well. Make sure you don't kill the suspension travel in the process. I tried a lot of different suspension options on my 02 wrx wagon, aftermarket, oem sti stuff. Stock wrx springs with kyb gr2 is ultimately what I ended up liking based on time sheet results, but still felt like a wallowy pig. Completely different than a wrx sedan with the same setup.
I have a mish mash of stuff you are welcome to if you are close enough to have a look.
Just be careful as the body roll on the wagon is always going to feel weird compared to the sedan versions. Don't put too much camber in the rear.

I'm in Delaware, don't know where you are. PM is fine if you're shy.
I'm not excessively concerned about roll, but I've got to get this thing off the sidewalls. The outside shoulders are getting eaten alive. I was looking for -2.5 or so up front and -1.5 or so out back. Somewhat stiffer damping and spring rate would help sharpen it up a little.
Ultimately, it is an outclassed, naturally aspirated, automatic-trans little workhorse, and I'm asking a lot of it. But she likes to autocross and I like to encourage that, so I'd like to improve it a little on the cheap. Maybe next car we'll go for something a little more competitive.
Thanks!
I've got some ~150k mile complete 2002 WRX Wagon strut assemblies. Strut, spring, tophat, etc. Unbolt the old, bolt these in - no need to disassemble. Make offer.
I have some SPT springs for an 02 in my garage. I'll give them to you $free, but I honestly don't feel like shipping them. I don't know if I'd put them on a wagon, the butt was a little low on a sedan and the wagon would be worse.
Just surf Nasioc and pick up a set of STi takeoffs for $50?

In reply to ProDarwin:
Not to hijack but I've been looking for either different front struts or lowering springs for the rear of my Scoob. Right now it has '05 STI strut assemblies in the front and '04 WRX strut assemblies in the rear. The rear is noticeably higher and I'd rather lower it than raise the front as the front is pretty close to the original height.
Either way I'd like to be rid of the musclecar rake on a car that lacks muscle...
Let me know if you change your mind on shipping, I'll throw some money at you.

That's about double the current mileage. I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to hold out for something newer. Thanks though!
Anybody have a set of sedan front control arms?
Control arms are under recall. Maybe get a new set for free?

They'd never give me sedan CAs for a wagon, I'm sure. Thanks for the idea, though. That reminds me, I need to get that inspection done. Thanks for that, too!
