I'm not having much luck on Craigslist, so I'll place this here. I'm looking for the following:

EF Civic Si/Crx Si--Miata--E30--97-01 Prelude--02-05 Civic Si--Wrx/2.5 Rs 91-91 Sentra Se-r--Focus Svt/Zx3--Celica Alltrac (Maybe)--Mustang Gt(Maybe)

Must be a stickshift. Just looking for something fun to drive every so often. There may be some other car's I am missing. I would need it to be road ready and stock or close to stock condition. I really only want to look in Ohio or if you could deliver, that would be great. I have cash and I'm ready to buy.

I noticed that one today. That's a crap load of miles and it also has a salvage title. What do you think?

I am tempted to look at it. I'm not too concerned about the miles but I don't really know what to look for on these.

I need to stay under $5,000. But I would rather do around $3,000, which would rule out some of my options listed.

it's more than you've budgeted, but I'd look VERY seriously at the Accord in the other thread or even the Suby ... the Accord would be my choice ( but I'm a Hondaboy ) the Suby (w/snow tires would never get slowed down in the winter ) and you do need to think about that .... ( also snows on the Accord would work for most situations )

High miles, salvage title, and he's selling it after only having it for four months. That last one makes me very suspicious. Since it's rare, it might be worth looking at, bu I also see many inconsistencies in the paint, which might be a result of the salvage title, but nevertheless not done very well if it shows up in a picture. Being located where it is, I'd also expect rust and rust repair.

Jon, You probably know this, but vehicles in your area are typically much cleaner than those up here. I'm always amazed by that, given that we are only talking 100-150 miles south. I've bought several vehicles from mid to southern Ohio for that very reason. I'd try to stay down that way if I were you, although I understand you are having trouble finding what you want. You may need to go south versus north. Remind me again why you sold that CRX????

I'd be all over that if it had a manual. That's exactly what my son wants, but he will have none of that automatic.

it sounds like a father and son project. 5spd swap.....they do run pretty good with a auto also

I have noticed on CL that prices are much more reasonable up your area. I can say I haven't missed the Crx too much. It was awesome, but I'd rather have something newer. I would still consider one though. I would love to try a 07-08 Civic Si sedan, but find it hard to let go of my current Civic DD. I don't think I want my main DD to be a manual. I would rather keep what I got, which is auto, and then have a fun stickshift that's on the cheap side.

I'd go look at it.

The mileage doesn't necessarily matter from a drivetrain/engine standpoint, they're incredibly strong and well-built motors. I WOULD absolutely do a compression test before buying under any circumstances, though.

Beyond that, pretty standard stuff. Check for grinding transmission, it's the first variant of that particular transmission and they are considered the "weakest." This doesn't mean that they'll break, just that the synchros tend to go out the fastest, if they go out at all.

Make sure clutch is good. It's not a fun job to replace the clutch.

Rust, leaks, etc...

Don't expect it to be fast @ 10spi. Just... enough.

It's $2000, as long as it ran and wasn't rusty, i'd just buy it. Looks pretty clean.

I kinda want it myself, but no money.

My Escort Zx2 would be 1100 delivered. Front bumper needs fixin. Frame rails slightly bent at the front. Needs windshield and O2 sensor. New stage 2 clutch, pacesetter manifold, and Cam solenoid. Also new sensors throughout the engine. Plenty of body damage already done four you.

Maybe they're cheaper because they're more rusty.
And what's this talk about not wanting a CRX. It was on your list!
