Spal preferred, but as long as it works brand isn't a big concern.
needs to have a max thickness of about 3". Not too concerned with CFM, though the higher the better.

I am a Spal dealer, and can get you a pretty good price on a new one. PM me if you want to go that route.

Might be too thick.
Look to a Chrysler 300M. Twin dual-stage fans. The factory wiring for those suckers is a 40a circuit for both fans... on the low stage. 40a circuit for the high. I'm using 30a fuses but they pop every now and then (!) so they do pull some current.
But the positive side of that is they pull a crapton of air. And since they're from a luxobarge, they've got carefully shaped, fully-shrouded blades, so they are fairly quiet. Less noise generally means more airflow for a given amount of power - less power is being wasted on beating the air. And did I mention that they pull close to 60a on full chat?
Because it's a DUAL fan, they are pretty low-profile in the center, which is where 90% of interference problems start.

yeah, I was at the PNP the other day, and looked under the hoods of about 200 cars, in the rain, and didn't see anything that looked thin enough to fit what I need. I pulled an e36 aux fan, but it's about 1/2" too thick. Sucks, because it fits my factory shroud from the clutch fan perfectly...
