Over the last few weekends I did some testing on my DD 1979 Fiesta and found out that I have a cylinder going down (slightly melted piston). Compression 150psi across the board except #3 which was 60psi (150psi wet). So I am on the search for a rebuildable 1978-1980 Fiesta block/crank/flywheel. I don't need the head, but if it is a complete engine and the price is fair, I would probably go for it. I'm not in a great big rush, I just see the writing on the wall.

Thanks.

Dan

Go down to local Ford dealership and hand them $1300 for a new one. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=12142

Is there any reason you don't want to slap in a Zetec?

Thanks for the link, I have seen the new blocks around various places.

I thought about boths options...I think the new block is the 711 casting vs Fiesta 771 casting (which I think had modified front and rear crank snouts to make the whole engine shorter, bosses for FWD mounts, and a different oil pump).

The Zetec would be alot of fun, but the car is so clean and rust free that I kind of hate to cut it up enough to put the Zetec in plus the cost of either installing MS or swapping to carbs. Would be awsome in the end though and I haven't completely ruled it out.

Thanks again!

Car-part dot com says there's a 1980 Fiesta block in Steamboat Springs, CO, that you can have for $85. Since your profile says you're in Tennesee, this information may not be too helpful, but there y'go anyway.

I looked on car-part.com, but I just did the search for an engine, not just the block. Last time I talked to BAT, they didn't carry a lot, but I didn't even think about them knowing where I could find a block.

Thanks again.
