Believe it or not, Dorman just stopped making these and mine decided to stop working. So it's either $200 to the chevy dealer or get lucky on the net, unless, somehow, the winch from a silverado or 2003 and later 'burban will work. We're about to start on a trip and I don't want the misfortune of no access to the spare, and, no, it isn't going to ride in the cabin (no room).
Would the Suburban winch be the same unit as an Astro ? Time to hit the you-pull-it,maybe?
It appears that the winch for the Suburban, Yukon XLT, etc, are unique. I have no idea why. And I can't find anything that would say that I can use a later part or one from a silverado. What a PITA!
If Dorman quit making them, you'll probably need to start calling junkyards in the southwest or pay the dealer.
Maybe ebay?
Think I just scored the last one NAPA has. Theirs is discontinued too. Crazy.
