In a couple of months I'll be selling my 2000 ZX2 s/r.
84000miles, rockers going, clutch still holds but has a light chatter when cold, struts blown, coming due (100K by the manual) for a timing belt, possibly seized right front caliper, uncoated pacesetter shorty header (has never leaked!?!)
Over the years I've added an aftermarket stereo (still have the old tape deck and used a wire harness adapter - no hacking), 19mm rear swaybar and 15" konig helium rims currently with 205/55-15 (stock size) Kumho SPTs with better than 1/2 tread life. I still have the daisies with 185/65-15 snow tires on them.
I also have a pair of ES motor mount inserts, spare coil pack and OTC Camshaft tool set.
The car is yellow with pw, remote pdl, power moonroof, and all of the s/r goodies - you know what they are...
Am I out of my mind for thinking $1500 is a reasonable price?
Thanks
What do you mean by "rockers going"? Rust?
For reference, I got my non-s/r ZX2 via GRM $2K9 classifieds for $800 with a decent amount of modifications and recent parts.
Where are you located?
In reply to cghstang:
Yes, rust. They looked great until I put the snow tires on last fall. As it turns out, they were rusting right under the paint.
I'm in Niagara falls, Ontario. I bought the car in Michigan.
I did a quick check for zx2's on Autotrader around here and they (non s/r) go for up to $3500cdn, If it wasn't for the rockers and shocks, I'd consider just selling it on there. I'd like to price it fairly given its condition.
Does the fact that it's an s/r even matter in the used market?
My opinion: S/R doesn't matter to the buying public in general; only someone looking specifically for an S/R would be willing to pay any premium.
Chris is right. 99% (or more) of the population won't even know anything other than it's a yellow ZX2. One just sold around here (Indiana maybe) a few months ago in poor shape for $800. You might try putting it on the FEOA site as those people will appreciate what you have a bit more than most.
You guys are making me think I'm about $500 high for a quick sale. My autotrader research made me think it would go fast for $1500. What I want is for the car to sell quickly when the replacement comes in.
The plan is to have a replacement car by the end of June or early July and sell the s/r with the spare wheels and other stuff...
It'll sell on FEOA for that price, methinks. If you want to sell it like... tomorrow, then drop it by all means.
But you'll get $1500 out of it. I wouldn't drop the price unless i was buying it.
And unfortunately, i'm not.
