This is the wife's. She loves riding it but hasn't been able to for a few years due to degenerative joint issues. Just over 5,000 miles. Please ignore the mess and the clutter.

I had a 76 xs500 in college that I loved...
I do not need a bike I do not need a bike I do not need a bike
Me neither, me neither, me neither. Glad it's 543 miles away. That would be really fun to clean up and get running.

Not to derail this thread, but a type 3 sounds interesting. Is it listed somewhere?

It was last ridden in 2014, I think but it's not locked up. By now I would assume the carbs need to be rebuilt.
Wife typing- Yamaha needs the carbs cleaned from sitting, it had started to wash down the left cylinder when I parked it and was becoming a nightmare to start, but I wasn't interested enough in riding anymore to clean them. It still turns over easily. The only other problem with it is the stator, it need fully replaced, meaning the bike eats batteries, to the point of being un-rechargeable, in shockingly quick fashion. The latter issue, I don't have the skills to fix, and is why I chose not to pull the carbs again. I do love my bike, and hate to see it go, but I have zero interest in riding, and even less in fighting it to start so I can head out. Kind of takes the fun out of it, ya know? (my physical health also makes it a REALLY dumb idea to get on a bike, anymore, when standing and walking are hazardous. Never thought I'd be hanging it up this young)

Eating batteries sounds like a voltage regulator/rectifier problem (based on my limited experience with a similar issue). That should be an easier fix than a stator.
I'm working on a deal for a wrecked SV650 right now, but if it falls through I may contact you about this one.
