Old people don't drive much. I'd be willing to bet this was owned by an elderly person.
I've always liked this body style Civic, amazing shape for a Rust-belt car!
In reply to Joe Gearin :
I lived St. Louis for 5 years - they get less snow than you think. There are some rust free cars from that area.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the head is done for, too, if it’s needs a cam. I seem to recall there was some kind of failure (oiling maybe) that could take them both out. If 86-89 Integras were still easy to come by, I’d be tempted.

You’d need swap mounts and I think a few parts from a 4th gen Civic to do it, IIRC. The 86-89 Integra D16A1 is an easy swap, but isn’t closely related to other Honda D-series engines
I learned to drive stick shift in a civic exactly like that. It was taken out by a failed cam bearing.

There’s one here in town that’s probably the nicest I’ve ever seen. I’ve talked to the owner a couple times. He’s probably in his late 70’s and not interested in selling. The last time we talked I tried to *tactfully* ask: “So what happens to it when you die?” ...which didn’t go too well, but I honestly just don’t want it to go to a scrapyard or kid/grandkid who’s gonna rag it out :/
Anything. Anything that old with a clean body is always worth $800 to me. Not that I hate rust as I grew up with but it's sure is nice not to have it.
